Step 1: Apply to Northland Community & Technical College

- Complete the Northland application form to begin your journey.
 - Submit anytime—save your progress and return later.
 - No application fee required.
 
Step 2: Apply for Financial Aid and Scholarships
Secure funding for your education.
- Submit the FAFSA using Northland’s school code: 002385
 - Apply early to maximize your financial aid package
 - Explore Northland scholarships for additional funding
 - Veterans: Visit the Veteran Resource Center for benefit support
 
Step 3: Complete Placement Assessment (If Needed)
Determine your course placement.
- Northland uses various tests, including ACT, SAT, Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA), and/or your high school GPA, or prior college credits, to help determine course placement
 - If placement can’t be determined based on that information, you will need to take an Accuplacer assessment
 - Learn more about college placement testing
 
Guided Self-Placement: If you earned a GED, graduated from high school more than ten years ago, or have no other means of placement, you’ll complete guided self-placement with an academic advisor. Please bring your GED test results to the meeting.
Step 4: Register for Classes
Plan your first semester with expert guidance.
- Meet with your assigned advisor to select courses
 - Get help aligning your schedule with your degree or career goals
 - Access campus resources and support services
