I am working on my dissertation in completion of a Ph.D. in History from the University of North Dakota. I am an historian by training, holding Bachelor's and Master's degrees in History. I specialize in military history, American history, rural history, public history, and local history. I also have experience in Geography, including coursework in military geography, historical geography, GIS, and computer-assisted cartography.

I enjoy engaging in scholarly research and assisting others in personal research, including some genealogical research.
When not engaged in academic pursuits, I volunteer as a member of Civil Air Patrol, where I serve as a Squadron Commander. I am also a member of Sons of the American Legion. I serve as Secretary to the Board of Directors for the East Grand Forks Heritage Village Foundation as well as Curator for the Northern Lights Railroad Museum.
I also conduct Civil War living history displays for local and state historical sites and museums.
