Did you know? Northland students are eligible for a FREE license for Kurzweil! This license includes both internet-based access (Firefly) and the computer-based program (Kurzweil 3000).
To request your account, please use our Kurzweil Request Form. Once we have verified your Northland student status, you will receive an email with your username and password from “Kurzweil Education Customer Service”. This process takes 1-2 business days after your request is submitted.
Anytime! You only need to use the Kurzweil Request Form ONCE. The access is valid throughout your time at Northland.
Firefly is best for websites and smaller files (assignments, syllabus, etc.). You can use Firefly anywhere you have an internet connection.
Kurzweil 3000 is best for larger files, such as .pdf copies of textbooks. Once installed, you can use Kurzweil 3000 on your personal computer at any time – no internet connection is required.
Due to the many features this program offers, the file size is 1.82GB, so you may want to download this while using the Northland network or another high-speed internet option. If you have difficulty, you may visit Academic Success Center or Information Technology Services for assistance. Once installed, you will need your User ID and password to access the software (but you can download while you wait for your User ID).
