NCTC to Host New Student Orientation

East Grand Forks campus orientation will take place on July 21, 2017 and in Thief River Falls on July 28, 2017.

This summer the East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls campuses of Northland Community and Technical College will be hosting new student orientations for those planning to enroll for the Fall 2017 semester. The East Grand Forks campus orientation will take place on July 21, 2017 and in Thief River Falls on July 28, 2017.

The purpose of campus orientation is to welcome students and their families to the Northland community and prepare them for the transition to college. “We understand the natural nervousness college students and their parents, spouses, and families can have, this summer we’re trying something new,” said Jason Pangiarella, Coordinator of Student Life & Success. Jason explained the goal behind offering orientation, “Our New Student Orientation will be geared towards getting our incoming Fall 2017 students ready to hit the ground running. This in-person, on-campus orientation will be critical to set up our freshmen for a successful year.”

We understand the natural nervousness college students and their parents, spouses, and families can have, this summer we're trying something new.

Northland’s new student orientation is a fun and informative way to help students get familiar with the campus and help ease personal, social and emotional adjustments that students often experience when transitioning to college life. The orientation is open to all incoming freshman looking to learn more about their upcoming academic experience.

“Orientation is designed to be helpful for a new student,” said Nicki Carlson, Director of Enrollment Management and Admissions. “I encourage all new students to attend. It is important that students become familiar with college services and policies, and the day also gives students the opportunity to meet future classmates.”

Staff are available to set the groundwork for success in college and will cover a range of essential topics including financial aid, scholarships, academic support, advisement, tuition, housing and IT technical support.

The overall goal of the orientation is to prepare students for the transition into college and assist with any questions or concerns they may have prior to the start of the semester. With this advanced preparation, students can arrive focused and ready to learn on their first day.
The day also gives students the opportunity to meet future classmates.
