Northland Community & Technical College Set to Welcome Students Back to Campus this Fall

Classes will begin as scheduled on August 24

July 10, 2020 – Northland Community & Technical College is open and ready to welcome students back to campus on August 24.

Many classes will be offered both on-campus and online as well as classes that have a hybrid format with some online, including real-time virtual lectures, and some on-campus instruction. Programs requiring hands-on components that cannot be fully replaced with virtual instruction or simulation such as Northland’s trades programs will be held on campus exercising social distancing protocols to ensure safety.

Most programs will have the ability to adjust as the situation demands. “Most of our Liberal Arts programs have the distinct ability to immediately transition to a fully online delivery method should the necessity arise,” states Brian Huschle, Northland Provost, “Our technical/trades programs are, by and large, designed to be flexible if requirements tighten by reducing class sizes and utilizing simulation equipment.”

“Northland has always been at the forefront of online education. With training and years of experience, our faculty who teach online are experts in the field.” Huschle expounds, “Our college-wide mix of online, hybrid, and in-person instruction, small class sizes, and social distancing protocols will allow for a safe learning environment while providing the quality hands-on experiences needed.”

Northland will continue offering student services both in-person and online. Academic advisors and other student service professionals are making appointments available through several modes of delivery–in person, via video conference, email, or over the phone.

“The advisors at Northland are here and ready to help you select your courses, register, and answer any program questions you may have,” Northland Registrar Ben Hoffman affirms, “We recognize that an on-campus meeting might not be feasible and we have the ability to be flexible when scheduling appointments. We will set up a meeting in any format that best suits our students’ needs. We look forward to seeing students return to our campuses this fall!”

In addition, Northland’s Academic Success Center has transformed its services to accommodate the current climate by offering one-on-one video conference tutoring sessions during business hours and also through Tutor.com which is a 24-hour service.
