Caleb Curfman is the History Instructor at Northland Community and Technical College and has taught at the college, first as adjunct, than as full-time since Spring 2018.
He began teaching at Northland in the spring of 2018 in an adjunct position within the HPER field as he also worked as a NCAA Basketball Official. He returned to Northland in the Spring of 2019 as an adjunct instructor in the History and Political Science departments. After teaching a wide array of History and Political Science classes for both Northland and Alexandria Technical and Community College, Caleb was offered and accepted a full-time position at Northland which began fall semester 2020.
Caleb earned his Associate of Arts from Northland through the use of the OCHS and CHS programs, which he is now involved in as both an instructor and a mentor.
Caleb attended Bemidji State University, obtaining his History, B.S. with a minor in Political Science. His research focused on Midwestern states in the American Civil War as well as Ancient
and Religious History.
Caleb then earned his History M.A. from the University of Nebraska at Kearney where he specialized in 19th Century American History.
When asked about what Caleb likes about Northland, he explains, "I enjoy the opportunity to get to know my students and work with a diverse college community." He enjoys the sense of community that is present on campus.
Caleb lives in Fosston, MN (equidistant from both TRF and EGF Campuses) with his wife, Carissa, and Chocolate lab, Cara. In his free time he enjoys watching football, basketball, and baseball. He also enjoys golfing, painting, cooking, and woodworking. He also boasts about his home library which includes hundreds of historical writings.
