May 17, 2022 – Northland Marketing and Management student Deanna Rose is one of ten regional artists selected for the Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals (GGFYP) Art See art show. The regional art showcase will take place on Friday, May 20, from 4:30 – 8:30 pm at the North Dakota Museum of Art.

Rose will be displaying pen and ink illustrations that are themed around Victorian-era costumes and people. “I work with other mediums, but one of my favorites is using pen or pencil to create monochrome pictures,” shared Rose. “I love creating fashion designs and enjoy centering people or portraits in most of my art.” Her goal as an artist is to leave her viewers with the feeling of curiosity and mystification with the art’s story.

Rose ultimately intends to pursue an art career and is earning marketing and management credentials at Northland to support a future business marketing and selling her art.

“I believe that this path will help me learn more about the business and marketing world and about time management and professionalism. There is also a lot of creativity needed in marketing,” continued Rose.

“Someday I want to operate my own personal art business and sell my art,” Rose revealed. “I was never interested in graphic design as I only understood the designs themselves and not the business perspective behind the designs, but now that I have more of a base to work from, I think it could also be a good potential career for me.”

Rose has been taking a bit of a break to focus on her education, and this art show presents the opportunity to get back to creating gradually. “It means a lot to me to be chosen as an artist as this is the first event that I have participated in for a couple of years,” said Rose. “Although I have taken a break in creating, I’m starting to get back into it gradually and am excited to see where my art takes me.”

Rose’s art collection will be on public display Friday, May 20, at the GGFYP Art See art show at the North Dakota Museum of Art on the University of North Dakota campus. Admission is free.
