June 6, 2022 – Northland is set to host Minnesota State Week on its East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls campuses June 21-24, 2022. Twenty-six state colleges and seven state universities of the Minnesota State system will participate in this spring event.

“It’s never too early to start exploring your college options,” shares Nicki Carlson, Director of Enrollment Management & Admissions, “Minnesota State Week offers prospective students and their families the perfect opportunity to gather information about Northland’s programs while at the same time ask questions about the admissions and enrollment process, financial aid, meet with advisors, and more.”

Prospective students can take a tour, virtually or in person, meet with student services representatives, and attend program information sessions hosted by faculty in the Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Administrative Professional, Marketing and Management, and Liberal Arts programs.

Students who apply for admissions, request information, visit campus in-person or virtually, attend an info session, or register for classes during Minnesota State Week will be entered to win free credits at Northland. One drawing will be held on each of Northland’s campuses.

Pioneer Preview Student Orientation

During Minnesota State Week, Northland will also welcome new Pioneers to campus for Pioneer Preview new student orientation. Pioneer Preview is scheduled for June 22 on the East Grand Forks campus and June 23 on the Thief River Falls campus.

Pioneer Preview is Northland’s overall effort to ensure that new students are well prepared for the journey toward academic excellence and personal development. In addition to learning about Northland’s admissions and registration for fall classes, new students can meet student leaders and academic advisors, get a closer look at the Northland’s programs, make connections with fellow students, and learn about student life and organizations.

“We understand the nervousness new students and their parents, spouses, and families can have when entering college,” Ben Hoffmann, Northland Registrar and Director of Academic Advising stated. “Students who attend orientation are better prepared to make the transition to higher education and Pioneer Preview will give them the opportunity to meet Northland student services staff and make connects with fellow students in their field of study prior to the start of fall semester.”

The orientation sessions are meant to be a fun and informative way to help students get familiar with the campus and help ease personal, social, and emotional adjustments that students often experience when transitioning to college life. Pioneer Preview is open to all incoming freshman and transfer students looking to learn more about their upcoming academic experience.

Parents and family members also are encouraged to attend, and special sessions have been designed specifically with parents in mind, giving them an opportunity to meet and ask questions of faculty and staff. Family members can attend at no additional cost.

Minnesota State Week activities are open to current high school students and recent graduates, members of the military, seasoned workforce professionals looking to make a career change, parents, or anyone looking to get an in-depth look at Northland’s 80+ program offerings.
