GENERAL INFORMATION: The Minnehaha County Auditors Office invites applications for an Elections Coordinator to join our team of professionals to be an integral part of public service by maintaining voters information for elections and coordinating activities to run successful election processes. Keywords: election; project; coordinator EXAMPLES OF DUTIES INCLUDE: • Perform functions associated with voter registration including accepting and processing applications, verifying voter information, identifying and deleting ineligible voter notifications, processing reports, processing mailing labels, and mailing registration and removal forms. • Performs functions of and serves as the Commission Recorder as needed. • Distribute and process absentee ballots according to procedures established by law. • Provide information and guidance on election laws and procedures to local election officials, candidates for public office, department management, and the general public through direct, telephone, and mail contact. • Update precinct maps with voting precinct changes. Update precinct finder with ward/precinct for each residence address through the County. Place new streets in correct voting precincts. • Supervise and provide work direction and oversight for part time election workers during election periods and verify the quality of their work. Plan and organize logistics for staffing and supplying polling places. Prepare and distribute supplies. Assist with setting up for absentee ballots and election night. Prepare voter registration lists. Enter voters information into the computer. Clean tabulation equipment. Assist in processing votes on election night. • Aid in monitoring compliance with official election procedures throughout the County and recommend procedural changes to improve efficiency and equity of voting. • Assist candidates running in the election with paperwork and petitions, answer questions, and distribute election guidelines. Enter data and process petitions and paperwork. • Facilitate bid lettings according to bid laws and legal requirements. Review bid specifications. Draft and review bid notices, schedule openings and legal publications, attend bid openings, record bids, and prepare bid tabulations. Collect signed contracts and performance and payment bonds from bidders and notify departments when projects may begin. Maintain permanent bid file containing all bid documents and project plans and specifications. • Process liquor, malt beverage, wine, and special event alcoholic beverage license applications including publication of hearings, setting hearing dates, coordinating agenda items, corresponding with the South Dakota Department of Revenue on license issues, and communicating license statues with applicants. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED plus four years of work experience in an office environment. General knowledge of local, state, and federal election laws. Comparable combination of education and experience may be considered. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of elections, voting and election software systems and technology.
